ACOP
A public housing authority’s written policy governing how applicants are admitted and how tenancy continues.
FLSA
The federal statute establishing minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping and youth employment standards.
HOTMA
Federal legislation that revised how income, assets and household composition are determined across several HUD rental assistance programs.
Imputed income
Income attributed to a household based on the value of its assets rather than on income actually received.
Interim recertification
A recalculation of a household’s assistance carried out between annual reviews, usually after a reported change in circumstances.
Life-threatening deficiency
An inspection finding that presents an immediate risk to health or safety and carries the shortest correction timeframe.
NSPIRE
HUD’s physical inspection standard, which assesses property condition across unit, inside and outside areas.
Regular rate of pay
The hourly rate used as the basis for calculating overtime under the FLSA. It reflects more than the base hourly wage, because certain other earnings must be included.
Self-certification
A process in which a household attests to information in writing instead of the owner obtaining third-party verification.
TSP
An owner’s written plan describing how applicants are screened, selected and placed for a assisted property.
